I Need Some Sunshine

I don’t know how winter is treating you, but for those of us in Utah, it definitely showed up this year. We’ve had several big storms and many days trapped under yucky “inversion air.” I am in need of some sunshine, so I thought I’d make a couple of sunshine projects to share with you.

I wanted my color palate to be bright and happy, so I went with Tempting Turquoise, Pool Party, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, and Tangerine Tango Stampin’ Write Markers to color in the new Sunshine Clear-Mount Stamp.

This card made me feel so much better that the lightning bolts of creativity started firing off in my brain. I wanted to add sunshine to another project, so I grabbed one of my standby favorites, the Kraft Gift Box. I measured the top and sides of the box and found that an 8-1/2" x 8-1/2" square of Daffodil Delight Designer Series Paper would be the perfect size to make my sun rays to wrap around the box. I scored at 2-1/2" and 6" on each side, then used a pencil and ruler to draw my sun rays. The squiggle lines indicate the pieces to cut off.

After I was done cutting, I erased my pencil lines and folded the sun rays around the box. I trimmed off the pieces that hung over and then used my Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Write Marker to add a touch of texture by outlining the sun rays.

I used Sticky Strip to attach the sun rays to the Kraft Gift Box and a hobby blade to slice the sun rays along the sides of the lid so it could still be opened.

I think it looks like a big sunshine hug.

As I sit and look at the snowflakes falling (again), I don’t think I can quite bring myself to give these away just yet. I think I’ll keep them out on my desk for a little while longer.
